New Education Policy 2020

The New Education Policy (NEP) has been approved by the Cabinet and will release today (29.07.2020). The much-awaited policy will bring several changes to the education system — from the school to college level.

Reforms:
  • UG colleges to be more autonomous
  • Single common entrance exam for all colleges
  • Report card to have assessment by teacher, peers
  • Board exam patterns to change
  • New System of Education (5+3+3+4)
  • E-courses to be available in regional languages
  • Colleges to become interdisciplinary courses
  • M.Phil discontinued
  • Aim to have 50% GER
  • MHRD to be Education Ministry
  • Mother tongue as medium of instruction
  • Single Regulatory Body for HE
  • Emphasis on Use of Technology
