The New Education Policy (NEP) has been approved by the Cabinet and will release today (29.07.2020). The much-awaited policy will bring several changes to the education system — from the school to college level.
Reforms:
- UG colleges to be more autonomous
- Single common entrance exam for all colleges
- Report card to have assessment by teacher, peers
- Board exam patterns to change
- New System of Education (5+3+3+4)
- E-courses to be available in regional languages
- Colleges to become interdisciplinary courses
- M.Phil discontinued
- Aim to have 50% GER
- MHRD to be Education Ministry
- Mother tongue as medium of instruction
- Single Regulatory Body for HE
- Emphasis on Use of Technology
